To Do This Weekend: MLT 50th Anniversary Show
(Events)
Noel Coward's "Blithe Spirit" opens tonight at the McKeesport Little Theater. Showtimes are 8 p.m. tonight and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.
First produced by the theater in September 1961, the comedy is being presented through March 27 as part of MLT's 50th anniversary.
The plot revolves around Charles, who plans a seance as research for his new book. He invites the eccentric medium Madam Arcarti into his English country home intending to expose Arcarti as a fraud. To witness this event, Charles and his second wife, Ruth, invite the skeptical Dr. Bradman and his anxious-to-believe wife, Violet. When, in the course of the seance, Arcarti mistakenly summons Charles' first wife, Elvira, back from the beyond, things get thoroughly out of hand.
The show is directed by F.J. Hartland and produced by Jan Gerber. Cast members include T.C. Brown as Charles, Ellen Kalik as Ruth, Maggie Mayer as Elvira, Dorothy Fallows as Madame Arcati, Ellen Ulmer as Mrs. Bradman, Sean Butler as Dr. Bradman and Sara Fisher as Edith.
On March 19, the MLT's 2nd Stage Players will host a dinner before the show. The dinner will consist of Swedish meatballs over noodles, green beans, coleslaw, rolls and butter, coffee, tea and desserts. Cost is $10 per person. Reservations are required and due no later than March 17.
