More than 100 tote bags from McKeesport-area residents have been contributed to the Pittsburgh Tote Bag Project.
A drop-off spot for the project has been established at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, Walnut Street at Eighth Avenue, Downtown. The bags should be dropped off at the church office during business hours, or on Sundays following the 8 and 10 a.m. services.
The Pittsburgh Tote Bag Project is a grassroots effort to collect reusable tote bags for clients who use food pantries affiliated with the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.
The tote bags will help these food pantries reduce the expense of buying plastic bags, as well as keep those plastic bags from winding up in the trash. In addition to tote bags, donations of backpacks, messenger bags, purses and similar bags in good condition are also accepted.
Donations are also being accepted at Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank's warehouse in Duquesne, and at Quilter's Corner, 6101 Route 88, Finleyville.
