Two-time Olympic gold medalist and city native Swin Cash will greet fans and talk about her charitable work on Saturday at the Palisades ballroom, Downtown.
The free event begins at 12:30 p.m. and is open to the public.
Cash, 33, a forward for the Chicago Sky of the WNBA, will talk about her basketball career, her experiences at the 2012 Summer Games and her charity, Cash for Kids.
Mayor Mike Cherepko and state Sen. Jim Brewster also are scheduled to be on hand.
Cash also will appear this Sunday at Heinz Field to serve as "celebrity Terrible Towel Twirler" as the Steelers host the Washington Redskins.
A graduate of the University of Connecticut with a degree in communications, Cash played for the UConn Huskies from 1998 to 2002. She was voted the 2002 Most Outstanding Player in the NCAA Final Four after the Huskies won their second national championship in three years.
Cash is ranked seventh all-time in scoring at UConn with 1,583 points, sixth in rebounding with 910, and was the second player in Big East history to lead the league at the completion of the regular season in scoring and rebounding. A number two draft pick in the Women's National Basketball Association, she spent six seasons with the Detroit Shock and three seasons with the Seattle Storm.
Cash won gold medals as part of the U.S. women's basketball team at the 2008 and 2012 Summer Games.
A spokeswoman says Cash will talk about her charitable and philanthropic work, which has focused on the McKeesport and Pittsburgh areas, as well as her partnership with Chicago-based Girls in the Game, a youth-development and leadership initiative.
The Palisades is located at the corner of Fifth Avenue and Water Street, next to the McKees Point Marina.
