The region is also under a high wind watch. The NWS says western Pennsylvania could receive sustained winds from the northwest of 25 to 35 mph, with gusts of 50 to 60 mph. Those winds could knock down trees and power lines.
The watches extend through east central Ohio, northern West Virginia and western Maryland.
Higher elevations of western Maryland --- which may wind up receiving snow instead of rain --- are also under a winter storm watch. The National Weather Service says those areas could receive up to six inches of heavy wet snow and winds in excess of 40 mph.
