Our new talk-show, done in conjunction with WEDO (810), goes live tomorrow, Feb. 14. "Two Rivers, 30 Minutes" will air on WEDO at 9:30 a.m. Fridays.
Appropriately enough, our first guest is McKeesport Mayor Mike Cherepko. (The show was taped before news broke about the new strip club in Christy Park, so our topics are more mundane -- snow removal, demolition of blighted properties, and the new playground up in Highland Grove.)
The show also will be available as a free digital download, and as a podcast on iTunes and (we hope) Stitcher. When it's live and available, we'll provide a link.
Our guest on Feb. 21 will be Dan Cessna, District 11 executive for PennDOT, who will discuss the upcoming project to widen Lincoln Way in White Oak, plus other road improvements in the Mon-Yough area.
Also new: "McKeesport History Minutes," done by Andi Cartwright in cooperation with the McKeesport Regional History & Heritage Center. We are trying to do four per month, and those are airing on WEDO as time permits. They also will be available as digital downloads via iTunes and elsewhere.
. . .
Finally, this week in the Daily News, Pat Cloonan wrote about last month's attempt by someone to steal our group's name in a filing with the Federal Communications Commission.
Cloonan also speculates on who might be behind the "mystery" filing. (Cloonan's story links the filing to someone for whom I used to work, and who has a vested interest in keeping a new radio station out of North Versailles Twp.)
I have no idea who did it. Maybe whomever did it is jealous of what we're trying to do in cooperation with WEDO.
I would say this to whomever did it: In the words of Doyle Lonnegan (Robert Shaw) from the movie "The Sting," "You're not only a cheat, but you're a gutless cheat as well."
